Mental illness hurts. It devastates lives. Damages relationships. Costs billions. Hits workplace productivity. Halts young aspirations.
We create and provide a range of interventions based on real stories to highlight emotional health, wellbeing and clinical mental illness. Across different settings in private, public and voluntary sectors we bring alive the issues and situations facing so many today.
Surrey Fire & Rescue services: we developed workshops to highlight how emotional distress that isn’t dealt with can lead to mistakes being made and mental health deteriorating. When teamwork is vital, the actions of every individual matter. If one person is distracted due to a range of emotional issues, their judgment, attention and behaviour may compromise the task – which sometimes might involve a life or death situation.
Our training workshops showed such a situation, based on a real event, where a member of the team on more than one “Shout” put others at risk. Due to personal issues and his deteriorating emotional state, his mind was not on the emergency situation and what the team required of him. It was up to a fire officer to find out what was going on.
Our audience of chief fire officers, station officers and firefighters engaged in ‘directing’ the scenario to bring about a more favourable outcome.
